So many of the home improvement companies we speak with report that referrals are the lifeblood of their business? You know why. Referral leads are more likely to set appointments, easier to close because you’ve already earned their trust, and lead to a higher ticket price because you aren’t competing on price. We’re sure many of you have successful referral programs and often ask your customers to provide them. (And if you don’t, we’ve got some great marketing partners we can refer you to!)
It should come as no surprise then that we’re about to do the same. You know how powerful our vacation vouchers can be to drive leads, close deals, eliminate cancellations and improve your revenue. Now I know what you are thinking: “This is a differentiator for me, and I’m using it to stay ahead of my competition. Why would I share that with anyone else?” We agree. We’re not asking you for referrals to competitors in your market, or even similar types of businesses you may trip across. - It’s a small world, after all. The home improvement and home services industries are filled with like-minded individuals who connect through various events & conferences across the country each year. We’ve met many of you at them, in fact. And one thing we often see is the networking and sharing that happens when you are able to connect with people in the same industry but in non-competitive markets. If you’re in Ohio and you’ve met someone from Texas – why not share your best practices and ask them to share theirs? One great way to get that dialogue started is by asking them if it’s okay to refer to your partners and ask them for the same. Not every program is a fit for every company, but chances are if it’s working for your replacement window or HVAC repair company it will probably work well for your friend’s too.
- Your manufacturers will thank you. Odds are, you trust a few select suppliers to provide you with the products you sell. And these manufacturers have probably also provided you with marketing insights, discounts on ancillary products, and co-op programs you can take advantage of. You may have even been introduced to Destination Motivation this way! So ask yourself, how can I help someone else reach the same pinnacle? Whether it’s sharing knowledge, suppliers, partners or best practices – you have a lot to offer your peers who are trying to grow their own businesses. Particularly if there is no overlap between your market and theirs. What home improvement or home services company do you know that doesn’t want to increase leads, improve close rates and reduce cancellations? Who in this business doesn’t want to be more profitable?
